There’s a small tunnel off to the left where a passage leads to a Bite Down item - which can be used to kill yourself to throw enemies off your scent before resurrecting. Heading down into the darkened pit, the place is crawling with Crickets that will try jumping all over you - so either use Shurikens or run and slash until you can clear them away, and you’ll find two jars of Oil. This strange consumable will give you the red eyes, like those found on the Chained Ogre - which will let you power through enemy attacks, but inhibits the use of resurrection. When running into him, consider carefully how you’d feel about sending someone into what’s most likely a terrible fate.Īt the far end of the cave here are two more Rotting Prisoners by a body that holds a Red Lump. We haven’t met someone worth talking to from Taro Troop, but we have met a samurai, Jinzaemon, who is either at the well where you started the game, or further into the Abandoned Dungeon if you cleared out the Lone Shadow blocking the way. If this all sounds super sketchy, you’re probably right, considering the location of this place. If you want to explore more - take a left to find an open cell door at the top of the stairs, and inside you’ll find a Rotting Prisoner’s Note: Interestingly enough, killing them after hitting them with the Flame Vent, or even using the upgraded Spring-load Flame Vent to kill them in one shot makes sure they won’t get up again.Īs you reach the short stairway, take note of the beams above you that serve as an easy route above this room and away from all the Rotting Prisoners. Thankfully, killing them one more time should cause their body to fade away. These Rotting Prisoners can only stumble towards you and try to grab you - but can easily be strafed and killed… that is until they get up again.Īs it turns out, these Rotting Prisoners seem to have some form of the rejuvenating waters - and will get up to attack again, so make sure not turn your back on them. On the right you’ll also see one of the many bodies in this dungeon rise to life and try to attack. Entering through the main dungeon entrance, you’ll quickly notice the amount of Crickets jumping about - who seem to be mostly harmless, but can sometimes get agitated and attack you, so you may as well kill them for the easy experience.
